Xcase supports more databases, and has the TCL extensions, while Erwin supports fewer databases every year. Plus, a full license of your product costs less than annual support for Erwin!

I use, and teach the use of, Xcase to Visual ProMatrix users worldwide. The universal reaction to the power of designing in Xcase, and then importing into the ProMatrix Data Dictionary using the ProSysPlus Xcase2VPM tool, is one of astonishment. What was fuzzy, becomes clear. Within minutes of completing the Xcase model, VPM forms with full relational integrity and field validation are built from the VPM builders, and are running. Additionally, the ability to add attributes to Xcase objects (entities, fields, etc.) has allowed me to fully populate lookup lists with ProMatrix, both at the entity and foreign key level. With the coming introduction on n-tier based VPM Enterprise, I cannot imagine a better combination of tools with which to handle data. Without the openness of the Xcase data, and the continual improvements added to Xcase, none of this would be possible.

Concerning Xcase in general, we consider that Xcase is a very good tool that supports most of the features we were expecting for the support of our DB life cycle.
